Advanced Roofing is pleased to announce its recent acquisition of Pompano Beach-based Roof System Services (RSS), a leading company in South Florida’s roofing industry since its founding in 1995.

The acquisition is the latest step in Advanced Roofing’s expansion in South Florida and statewide. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Advanced Roofing has offices in Miami, Jupiter, Fort Myers, Sanford, St. Augustine and entered the Tampa Bay market by acquiring Roth Bros. of Florida in summer 2015. Advanced Roofing CEO Rob Kornahrens said that with Florida’s strong statewide demand, he expects his company’s 2016 revenues will exceed $76 million. Increasing roofing repair and maintenance business is one facet of the company’s strategy.

“Roof System Services founder Jeff Fazenbaker and his team built an active portfolio of roofing service and maintenance clients, with a customer-focused approach and quality craftsmanship that align fully with our core values and operations,” said Kornahrens. He and Fazenbaker had volunteered in many of the same industry and community organizations for years. After Fazenbaker had lost his battle with cancer this spring, his estate approached Kornahrens.

“The acquisition brings us a terrifically skilled team, plus opportunities to serve a wider group of roofing service clients,” according to Kornahrens, who said many RSS employees have joined Advanced Roofing’s staff. In honor of Fazenbaker, Advanced Roofing is a lead donor in establishing a scholarship fund that will help South Florida roofing industry employees further their education.

In addition to commercial re-roofing, maintenance, and sheet metal services, Advanced Roofing’s vertically integrated scope brings RSS clients new access to wide-ranging services. Among those services are commercial HVAC installation and repair, award-winning solar energy design/build solutions, lightning protection services and the benefits of advanced construction technology and volume pricing.

Finding the right talent is a key priority to fuel Advanced Roofing’s planned growth in 2016 and beyond, Kornahrens said. He anticipates that his company’s current staff of 315 will grow to about 335 by year-end. He added that the state-funded Roofing Apprentice program Advanced Roofing spearheaded in cooperation with the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Florida East Coast Chapter in 2014 is a national industry model and a valuable feeder program that streamlines training for participating local roofing companies, at no cost to the apprentices.
